St. Cuthbert's Close
Brand
St. Cuthbert's Close is an exclusive development of 2,3 and 4 bedroom Detached Bungalows in Wigton, Cumbria. The name of the development comes from St.Cuthbert's Church adjacent to the site.
The Challenge
We were asked by Your Move Land & New Homes, the agent for the development, to develop a logo and brand concepts for the launch of this project. The presentation also included marketing/promotional material as well as brochure concepts.
The client wanted the design to reflect these new modern homes but also contain an element of the traditional country lifestyle. The brief for the signage and marketing material was that it had to stand out from other developments in the area or in property publications.
The Solution
The colours chosen for the brand are a very earthy. A very dark coffee brown, an acidic green and white. These colours suggest luxury (even indulgence!) and work well together in combination.
We went for a modern sans-serif font as a serif font was making the brand feel "too" traditional.
The association with the church does feature in the brand. We tweaked the lower-case 't' of 'St' to make it into a simple cross. The five-circle 'flower shape' that is the brand mark comes directly from the St Cuthbert's Church - it's the shape of a small window near the roof at the front of the church.
Not a lot of people will notice this feature and will probably think the brand mark is representative of the countryside surroundings - flowers, trees and bushes.
